Bar Review - Baker Street: A taste of Ireland
by Darren Subarton
1152 1st Avenue and 63rd Street
On the corner of 1152 1st
Avenue and 63rd Street in Manhattan, lies a pub of pubs that recently opened
about three months ago. The waitresses are beautiful, down to earth and courteous, and the
bartenders are definitely some of the best working uptown. Not only quick with a light or
a joke, these guys can whip up a stiff drink, recommend a soothing wine, or properly pour
you a fresh Guinness (and yes, I do mean fresh) thatll whet even the thirstiest of
appetites.
Oh wait! Did I forget to mention culinary delights? Whether
youre looking for Shepards pie, fettuccini with sun-dried tomato and sausage
in a creamy marinara sauce, or a burger thatll knock your boots, Baker Street will
deliver you a plate of sizzling delight as the juke box performs a solo of Led Zeppelin or
techno music. No live entertainment, but Baker Streets star bartender Johnny
Mac is incredible at doing stand-up comedy routines. I actually travel out of
my way for this place, and I never hang out uptown. Also, dont be shy about bringing
your better half because this place is not a sausage party.
