What We Can Do

Garrett Mok

Do not misdirect your anger.  Our Arab-American neighbors had nothing to do with this.  Understand the crucial differences between a Muslim and a militant fundamentalist.  There are hundreds of thousands of Muslims around the world who are lighting candles and offering prayers for our victims as we speak, and condemn terrorism as we do.

Check your collegiate idealism and pacifism at the door.  You heard the President.  No matter what you think of him personally, stand behind him and our military.  This is war.  Bombs will be dropped.  Ground forces will land.  The guilty will die.  It sucks, but that’s the truth.

Buy stock.  Our financial markets have been rattled.  Send a signal by buying as much stock as you can.  Show confidence in the world’s #1 economy.

Donate goods and services.  Specialists in mental health profession will be in much demand as survivors cope with the aftermath of this incredible loss.  Office space will be needed for the firms who have been displaced.  Infrastructural services will be needed such as telecommunication and data connections.

My company, IGM, is donating IT services to any firm/individual whose offices were displaced in the WTC tragedy, including the WTC buildings themselves and office buildings surrounding the area, such as the World Financial Center.  If you have office in any of the nearby buildings that were damaged and need immediate IT support, such as downed servers and network, go to http://www.ingaugemedia.com/wtc_help.html.

Be good to ourselves.   This unheralded tragedy is bringing out the best in all of us.  We all deserve credit for being strong and resourceful.  We’ll get through this.
