Letters to the Editor
* response to G-Spot:
Mr. Mok,
Right on! My son was at the North Valley Jewish Community Center when Buford Furrow
opened fire. Ben is physically fine but it has left emotional scars (nightmares,
etc.) that will be there forever, probably. My wife and I are still dealing with how
close our son was to that kind of violence. As a beginning fiction writer (I'm an
attorney by day), I vented by writing a short story based on the shootings. But in
my story, the shooter gets it (I've submitted it to Puerto del Sol). It might not
ever be published, but I sure felt better after writing it.
As a Chicano and Jew-by-choice, it seems to get harder just living without being hit
often by hatred and bigotry in their various forms. Such things have always been
around, but the weapons are bigger.
