Day by Day
Joe Cordaro
Tonight I ain't got
reason to be frettin'
cause the dirt underneath the side walks
been cushioning my confusion
and softenin' my real delusion.
All day long I was bein' spooked
by the faces of bums,
busdrivers, and bankers,
wearing my smile
and my style.
And later
I saw God naked
yellin'
"Hey dude, how did ya like my duds"
in the back of a flat-bed ford
while motoring my way down 95
somewhere between Newark
and the memory of my 71 Buick.
Now most folks
might be sayin'
my sanity must be decayin'
But it ain't got nuthin'
to do with sanity.
Got everything to do with
sloth and vanity.
Cause I'm always lookin'
for Damascus blindin'
cloud bustin'
ball breakin'
revelation
instead of a day to day meditation.
