In the first sessions, we cover everything from the basics of plot and character to self-editing to manuscript preparation. In the second half of the week, we have agents and professional editors review your manuscript, cover and query letters and plot synopses. These sessions will also include the pros and cons of self-publishing and internet publishing. Please note: This is an intense mentoring program. You don’t have to be published, but you do have to be serious about writing and getting published. The fact that we can accept no more than 30 applicants for this session insures that you will get one-on-one attention advice and some real-world information from publishing veterans. Can a workshop turn you from an amateur to a professional writer in one week? Only if you want it enough! : Requirements: A novel manuscript in progress, or several stories you are willing to have critiqued. : : The Non-Fiction Writers Boot Camp : August 26th -September 1, 2001 : Targeted for those with an interest in non-fiction, this workshop is modeled on the Fiction writers boot camp, but will instead included sessions on trend-spotting, self-help, target markets, the book proposal and presentation. Especially useful for experts and professionals who want to share their experience and knowledge in book form. : Requirements: A manuscript in progress, or an outline of the proposed book. : Includes 2 meals per day.
